WatchDISK (32 bit version!) is a program that is made for people (especially network administrators with large volumes) that need to keep track of where their disk space is going. Basically WatchDISK begins in a start directory. Each subdirectory is then scanned (including all subdirectories) for its total size. Each of the top level subdirectories are then displayed in the Disk Space Grid. This scan is dated and saved. The next time you notice disk space is low, or you just want to clean up, run WatchDISK again and rescan. WatchDISK will display the two scans side by side (and even sort them by amount of change if you wish) helping you easily and quickly see where the disk space has disappeared to since last run. You can print the scan results to a comma-delimited file that can be imported into most spreadsheets. WatchDISK is a 32 bit program written for Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0+. It works on any drive types, and has the option of considering compression. It can scan drives that are up to thousands of Terabytes in size (theoretically--I don't actually have a drive that large to verify this claim). The Shareware version of WatchDISK is completely functional (with some reminders to register that come up now and then). You can register it by sending $35 to me (run WatchDISK for more details) or by registering through CompuServe (GO SWREG, ID=12765, cost=$45). You can always find the latest version of WatchDISK at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/dnebeker/watchdsk.htm and you can e-mail me with questions at dnebeker@compuserve.com Doug Nebeker March 25, 1998
