Backup Exec Down File Server Utility Last Update: 07/06/95 BEDOWN is an NLM that will force the server to be downed after a specified number of minutes. It can be specified as a POST command, allowing the administrator to down the file server after completion of a backup. By default, BEDOWN will down the server after 2 minutes. If it is unloaded before the timer expires, the server will NOT be downed. You can override the number of minutes, by specifying the value on the command line, when BEDOWN is loaded. For example: :LOAD BEDOWN 5 Will cause BEDOWN to down the file server after 5 minutes elapses. You can also have BEDOWN either EXIT or RESTART SERVER (NetWare 4.x only), by specifying the E/R switch: :LOAD BEDOWN 5 R Will cause BEDOWN to down the file server after minutes, and then issue a RESTART SERVER command, to automatically restart it. :LOAD BEDOWN 5 E Will cause BEDOWN to down the file server after 5 minutes, and then issue an EXIT command, which will cause the server to EXIT to DOS, or restart, if the REMOVE DOS command has been previously executed. This command is useful for NetWare 3.x, since it does not support the RESTART SERVER command. Finally, add the B option to E/R, to have BEDOWN send a broadcast at the start of the clock, and once again when one (1) minute remains before the down. For example: :LOAD BEDOWN 5 RB Will cause BEDOWN to down the file server after 5 minutes, issue a broadcast at 5 minutes, then again at 1 minute, and finally, issue a RESTART SERVER command after the down is completed.
