Genesis Super User Creation Utility Version 2.00 (c) 2000 Digital Integration Ltd (http://www.di.co.nz) *************************************************************** *************************************************************** *** *** *** *** *** Warning: This NLM will violate the security of *** *** your server if left on a server volume! *** *** *** *** After using Genesis, you should remove *** *** any traces of the NLM from your server *** *** and store your licence code securely away *** *** from potential intruders. *** *** *** *** *** *************************************************************** *************************************************************** Usage: Copy the file GENESIS.NLM to a floppy disk or to the system directory of your file server. Load the program by typing at the server console: LOAD GENESIS [/KEY=Licence key] [/CONTEXT=Startup Context] (Switches in square brackets [] are optional) Where: Licence key is the code provided by Digital Integration to unlock supervisory access to your NDS tree. 'Startup Context' is the NDS container object where Genesis should start. Leaving this option off will default to the servers bindery context. Whats your problem? Depending on the reason you purchased Genesis will depend on how you apply it. Here are the three most common scenarios. Admin account is deleted: In this case, your access to NDS is lost, and any users that were security equivalent to admin also lose their privileges, so a new administrator needs to be created or an existing user needs to be promoted to admin (see below). * Load genesis.nlm on your server * Browse to the NDS container for the new administrator This is usually the default container where Geness starts * Press Insert * Type the name of your new admin user i.e. 'Admin' * Mark all available rights with the 'F5' key and press enter * Browse up the tree using the '.. (parent context)' option until the context line reads '[root]' and press 'Escape' * Enter and verify a password for the new administrator * Confirm the creation of the new user by pressing 'F7' Admin password is lost: * Load genesis.nlm on your server * Browse to the NDS container that contains the admin account * Scroll to the admin user account and press 'Enter' * Select 'Change password' * Enter and verify the new password A user needs to be assigned administrator privileges * Load genesis.nlm on your server * Browse to the NDS container that contains the user account * Scroll to the user account and press 'Enter' * Set NDS rights * Mark all available rights with the 'F5' key and press enter * Browse up the tree using the '.. (parent context)' option until the context line reads '[root]' and press 'Escape' * Confirm the modification of the user by pressing 'F7' Troubleshooting: In some cases, Genesis may return an error. Check the following before contacting support: * DS.NLM is loaded * The server is NetWare 4 or higher * An object of the name that is being created does not already exist * The server is up * Your server has not run out of memory - unload any unneeded NLMs * Your server has a partition of the tree you are attempting to assign rights to. * In some cases rights assignment or password changes may not work due to NDS policies or corruption. In this case, try creating a new user, or run DSRepair to correct NDS problems. If none of the above solutions solves your problem, visit the support forums at http://www.di.co.nz. Please provide any error codes from Genesis when reporting problems.
